About 70 percent of the human body is water. It is no wonder that what you drink has a large effect on your body and health. If your goal is to lose weight, you will need to be drinking the right drinks and in the right amounts, so here is a list of the best homemade drinks that burn fat and as a bonus, I have also included one of the worst drinks to avoid that will greatly hinder your fat burning.
Drink 1 – Green Tea
This homemade fat burning tea is perhaps one of the most potent substances we have in order to improve metabolic rate. That’s because it contains a plant compound called ECGC which has been clinically proven to increase the rate at which a body burns fat and calories.
One study tried to showcase the effects of green tea on weight loss, and they were able to prove that people who drank at least 3 to 5 cups of freshly brewed green tea each week for a 12-week period were able to reduce their weight by 4.6%.
Drinking one cup of green tea daily can help you burn an extra 50 calories, which actually comes to a total of 5 pounds in a single year. Sure, it’s not a monumental change, but when you consider the fact that it’s just a bag of leaves steeped in water, the benefits are actually pretty impressive which is why this is one of the best homemade fat burning drinks out there.
Drink 2 – Cold Water
Content goes here. We all know that it’s important to drink at least 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated, but there’s a lot more to drinking water than just providing our bodies with the fluid it needs. Studies have shown that guzzling at least 8 glasses of cold water a day can help speed up your metabolism.
According to a study reported in the 2003 Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, drinking at least 0.5 litres of cold water can help increase your resting metabolism rate by up to 30%, depending on your unique physiological response. This is because your body will have to burn up some calories to warm up the cold water you drink and bring it up to body temperature.
According to the same study, if you drink 2L of cold water (22C/ 71F), your body will burn 400kJ just in bringing the temperature of the water up to body temperature. If you drink water that is even colder – e.g. refrigerator temperature (8C/ 41F) – calories burnt will be double this amount or more. This is a very easybiohack to implement in your day.
Drink 3 – Brewed Black Coffee
Coffee has to be the easiest beverage to get too much of throughout the day. Some people can’t survive without a brew in hand at all times, and that might actually be detrimental to your weight loss.
According to studies, drinking more than 2 cups of brewed coffee in a day can suppress your appetite and make you skip meals. Unfortunately for your diet, that means that your body might choose to put a cap on fat burning in order to store enough energy for later. But despite that, there are some benefits to coffee.
In fact, studies have found that drinking a maximum of 2 cups of brewed black coffee a day can actually help boost lypolysis – the process of fat burning. So maybe capping off your coffee intake after the second cup can be beneficial for your weight loss effort as a whole.
On a side note, it also pays to know that not all coffee is good for your weight. All of those fancy, bespoke coffee beverages that include lots of different kinds of sweeteners, flavors, creams, and milks won’t produce the same benefits as their black counterparts. So, make sure you’re choosing the appropriate brew if you want to reap the benefits.
